Express Clydesdales Named National Champions at Milwaukee Competition
OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 29, 2011 - The Express Employment Professionals Clydesdales claimed two national titles and won the Chairman’s Award while competing at the National Clydesdale Show in Milwaukee, Wis.
The Chairman’s Award bestows tops honors for “Outstanding Representation of Staff and Display” by educating the public about the Clydesdale breed, keeping the display clean and professional at all times and serving as ambassadors with fair goers and staff.
The Clydesdales also won first place in the four-horse and eight-horse hitch competition, as well as placed second in the six-horse hitch.
Josh Minshull, who is nationally recognized as one of the best drivers in the industry and who serves as general manager of the Express Clydesdales, led the Clydesdales team to these top honors, showcasing the horses’ agility and his skill at driving the team in unison. Minshull was named best male driver at the National Clydesdale Show.
Of a rare black and white color, the Express Clydesdales stand 17-18 hands high and weigh more than 2,000 pounds each. Their shoes are the size of dinner plates and weigh more than three pounds each.
In addition to competing on a national stage, the Express Clydesdales have participated in some of the country’s most recognized parades and promotional events, including Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade, Chicago St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Fiesta Bowl Parade, Orange Bowl Parade, Hollywood Parade, Calgary Stampede Parade, Kentucky Derby Pegasus Parade, the International Finals Rodeo and the Professional Bull Riders World Finals.
The Clydesdales are recently most famous for escorting William and Kate, the prince and duchess of Cambridge on their recent visit to North America.
Serving as ambassadors for Express Employment Professionals, the Clydesdales make 50 appearances a year throughout North America, helping raise money for Children’s Miracle Network.
