  • Reach Truck / CAT-Machine Operator

    Reports to: Section Manager

    Department: ILS

    Division: Operations


    Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

    Pay Rate: 1st $10.50/hr, 2nd and 3rd $11/hr


    Job Purpose:

    To perform the material handling functions required in the receiving, storage and outbound processing, storing, moving, packing of parts, materials equipment and supplies required at the facility.


    Job Duties


    • The Warehouse Associate will report to the Section Manager and actual work assignments cover all aspects of facility functions.
    • Maintains safe, cooperative team relationships and assists as needed in coordinating workflow.
    • Safely performs the material handling and warehousing functions required in the receiving, order filling, processing, storing/picking of parts, materials, equipment and supplies.
    • Works from a variety of source documents to verify part numbers, part locations, quantities, count parts, fill orders, package parts, etc.
    • Conducts first line, basic quality assessment of parts for damage and defects to prevent passing on defects. Safely uses machines for moving, weighing, banding, wrapping, packaging, and stenciling, etc.
    • Accurately performs related and/or specialized clerical duties and resolves discrepancies as required.
    • Accurately maintains related clerical records and operates computer terminal and mobile RF equipment to access and update information for receiving, order filling, counting and order processing of kits.
    • Regularly performs housekeeping functions as required.
    • Safely uses mobile equipment and hoists as required to facilitate job functions.
    • Safely services mobile equipment by changing vehicle batteries.
    • Conducts pre-start equipment checks and immediately reports defects and need for repairs through the use of daily equipment check sheets.



    Physical Requirements:


    • Must be able to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
    • Infrequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, work at heights of up to 20 feet from the floor, working in an environment with frequently changing temperatures, and walk squat and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes, with or without reasonable accommodation.



    Desired Background/Experience


    • High School diploma or the equivalent.
    • Ability to read/write and interpret documents, the ability to utilize computer equipment to perform a variety of clerical functions and perform basic counting and math.
    • Previous distribution center, warehouse, and/or order filling experience beneficial inc. the qualified operation of materials handling equipment.

    Assembler MIG 


    Shifts: 1st and 2nd

    Pay Rate: 1st $11/hr, and 2nd $11.55/hr


    Job duties and responsibilities included but are not limited to:


    • Requires an assembly, mechanical, or electronic aptitude with a good working knowledge of assembly practices.
    • Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform assembly duties.


    Mechanical job duties may include the following:


    • Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights more than 35lbs.
    • Rotation to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.
    • Operate Athens built products.
    • Seek out paint defects and may perform paint touch up as needed.
    • Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free assembly, and adjust components and prime product.
    • Perform other related work duties as assigned
    • Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
    • Keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition
    • Contributing team member
    • Must have effective communication skills


    Requirements:


    • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
    • Ability to perform repetitive operations
    • Ability to lift up to 35lbs


    Desired Qualifications:


    • Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment and the ability to connect parts together using hands or tools.
    • Seeking team members interested in helping build the foundation of a positive team focused culture while safely building quality machines
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to read/write and interpret documents
    • Experience working with lean manufacturing principles such as following standard work, continuous improvement, eliminating process waste, and 5S.
    • Basic computer skills such as operating a computer in a Windows based environment.
    • Experience working in a team based environment
    • Technical School of Georgia Manufacturing Operations Specialist Certificate or related certificate.

    TIG Welders


    Shifts: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

    Pay Rate: 1st $13/hr, 2nd and 3rd $13.65/hr


    Job duties and responsibilities included but are not limited to:


    • Operates robotic and manual MIG weld machines.
    • Must be able to inspect own work including quality checks utilizing weld and attribute gages and other measuring tools.
    • Ability to perform in station repair on defective welds utilizing carbon air arc process, grinders, etc.
    • Ability to clear common robotic welding system faults
    • Mechanical job duties may include:
    • Use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs to position heavy fabricated metal components in weld fixtures.
    • General knowledge of manufacturing, methods, and processes
    • Rotation to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities.
    • Ability to perform routine maintenance (wire change, tip/nozzle change)
    • Rotation to various positions within the Job Function area to perform related activities. Must be able to work in a highly structured environment, strictly adhering to provided standard work instructions
    • Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free operations to create and machine components.
    • Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea Reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work.
    • Keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
    • Worker is responsible for process and final inspections
    • Must be able to function as part of a team, willing to be multi-trained and maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area
    • Contributing team member
    • Must have effective communications skills


      Requirements:


      • Must be able to pass the following AWS D1.1 welder qualifications during Cat provided weld training:
      • T-fillet break test in the 2F (horizontal fillet) position
      • Limited thickness groove test in the 1G (flat groove) position
      • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods; Ability to perform repetitive operations; Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.


      Desired Qualifications:


      • Experience with manual MIG welding obtained through OJT or coursework
      • Experience with operating robotic welding systems (desired, not required)
      • Experience with blueprint reading (desired, not required)
      • Experience with Caterpillar Production System processes and tools
      • Experience working in a Manufacturing or Welding Environment
