    Heraclitus, the Greek philosopher, famously declared "There is nothing permanent except change."  This quote rings more true now than perhaps at any point in human history.  Everywhere we look, things are changing.  And our places of work are no different.  Increasingly, change in the workplace produces anxiety, frustration, and fear for those immediately impacted by change and for those trying to determine the best way forward.  Understanding these reactions and bringing an intentional approach and process is critical to navigating change well.

    This program will provide a baseline understanding of effective change management starting with an understanding of emotional and psychological responses to change and the impact of organizational culture on change.  Participants will dive into a case study that will challenge assumptions about change in the workplace.  Special focus will be given to identifying stakeholders and following a specific process for creating, and managing, a change plan.  Participants will leave with a plan developed for a change initiative they are currently working on as well as a template they can use for future changes, whether large or small.

    Learning Objectives

    As a result of attending, participants will: 

    • Be able to articulate a business case for managing change intentionally
    • Understand the psychological and emotional responses to change
    • Explore the relationship between change and organization culture
    • Learn key steps to manage change effectively
    • Develop a proactive plan for a change initiative they are currently working on
    • Plan next steps to ensure an intentional change management approach is leveraged going forward

  • Who is this training for?

    This program is intended for anyone who is involved with leading, planning or executing a change initiative within their organization.  Participants will be asked to complete pre-work which will include reading an article and identifying a change initiative they will focus on throughout the day.

    This training qualifies for 9 HRCI or SHRM credits.

    Nathan Leaman - Director of Strategic HR
    Nathan Leaman

    Director of HR Training & Consulting - Express Employment Professionals

    Nathan Leaman is a passionate professional with extensive experience in building systems and tools that support organizational and leadership effectiveness.  Nathan brings over 20 years of leadership and HR experience from both business and non-profit organizations.  

    Nathan has a Bachelor's degree from the Moody Bible Institute, a Master's degree from Liberty University and received his coaching certification from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Nathan spent seven years in full-time church ministry before working for 13 years at the Kohler Co.  At Kohler, Nathan moved through various HR roles eventually taking the position of Director- Leadership Development.  Nathan also held various executive HR roles for the Grande Cheese Company in Fond du Lac, WI where he was responsible for Organizational Development, Compensation, Benefits Management and HRIS.

    Nathan has extensive experience with assessment tools and is certified in multiple personality and 360 degree feedback assessments.  His straightforward style, willingness to tackle difficult issues, genuine interest in seeing others grow and ability to coach at all levels makes Nathan a go-to resource for strategic HR support and executive development.
