    Steve and Daina Bowman moved from Cincinnati in 1998 to the Mundelein area and built their new home in Ivanhoe Estates. Steve started a new position with CNA, one of the country’s largest financial institutions in the insurance industry. Several years later he accepted a consulting position with one of the nations’ largest internet operating and financing firms on the east coast and traveled to client sites focused on third party outsourcing of information technology services. Five years later he joined Sears Holdings as a Vice President of System Services where he led a 500-person team supporting all mainframe and dot com sites for the corporation. After a corporate buy-out he took a year off to travel, fish and play golf and in 2006 decided to purchase the Express Employment Professionals office from the owner of the Vernon Hills franchise. At the time it was the second oldest office in Illinois. 2020 Owners page(1)

    Daina was the manager of the Mundelein Hallmark store at the time and a year later she joined the new Express business with Steve. In 2016, Erika Waehler nee Bowman, became part-owner of the Libertyville office after spending 7 years with Express in a variety of roles. 

    As of 2018 Erika became primary Franchisee. Erika has her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Wisconsin-Steven’s Point. Over the course of her 10+ years with Express she has worked as a Front Office Coordinator, Industrial Recruiter/Onsite Recruiter, Administration and Professional Staffing Consultant and Operations Manager. She’s earned the prestigious President’s Club Award from Express twice and helped lead the team to 10 consecutive years of Circle of Excellence, Express’s highest award for performance and achievement. 

    In continuing with the family legacy, Erika brought her sister, Melissa Dearth, back into the business in 2018 as Operations Manager. Melissa worked with Express in Libertyville from 2012-2015 as a Senior Staffing Consultant focusing on skilled trades and industrial recruiting. She left briefly to gain more experience in the corporate world in an administrative capacity. Together, Erika and Melissa continue the mission started by their parents to help as many people as possible find good jobs by helping as many clients as possible find good people.
