2022-05 Career Help Center in Vancouver, WA On a normal week, most full-time workers have a lot on their plate. When you don't have a plan, it's all too simple to become discouraged when you're overwhelmed with a million things on your plate. Good news! A Vancouver employment agency is sharing this blog which outlines six steps to help set yourself up so that every week is a productive week.

    #1: Choose a Day

Do you get more done if you sit down first thing on a Monday morning and plan out your entire week? Do you find that if you spend Friday afternoon planning the coming week, you can generally hit the ground running at the start of a new week? Once you've decided which day suits you best, always schedule a time to complete the following steps on that specific day.

    #2: Write Everything Down

You're juggling a lot of things at the same time-things like projects to finish, plans to keep for later, people to contact, and so on. On top of that, you have numerous non-work tasks as someone has to meal prep in your household, go for a walk with the dog, clean out the cat litter box, etc. Make a note of everything you must do on paper. Get everything out of your head and write it down.

    #3: Choose Deadlines for Everything

Once everything is listed, it's time to assign deadlines. This will allow you to make decisions about what needs to be done first and, more importantly, ensure that nothing is overlooked. Consider when work items are due and who will need them by when. Then, consider the days and times that would work best for personal errands and chores when planning your weekly schedule.

    #4: Update Your Calendar

Open your calendar and add all the deadlines you just set for your week. You'll be able to see at a glance what's past due which will make it more difficult to put things off that need attention. You can even take it one step further and create alerts on your computer and phone to notify you via text or email when tasks should be started and completed. Technology is an excellent tool to help with organization!

    #5: Talk About It

Tell your spouse or partner about the report you're working on and when it's due. Tell your children that you'll be picking up groceries on the way home from work. Call your friends and chat about the open evening you have to hang out to get a dinner on the books. When you communicate your intentions to others, you not only raise the likelihood that you'll follow through, but you also establish a support network to assist you in doing so.

#6: Take a Look Back and Adjust as Needed

Look at what you accomplished and what else remains to be done at the end of each week. This is a fantastic opportunity to make any necessary adjustments to your weekly schedule. If you keep failing to complete everything on your list, it's possible that you need to delegate some of your responsibilities. However, if you discover that you have additional time on your hands, make the most of it by getting ahead on tasks or ticking items off your to-do list that don't have deadlines.

You can set yourself up for a successful week by following these steps from staffing solution specialists. Take a few minutes to prepare ahead of time, and you'll be well on your way to having a successful week, every week!
