Business Development Manager

Location: Wichita, KS
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $50,000 Base + Lucrative Commission Structure

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and grow our local Wichita, KS office. This dynamic role combines branch operations leadership with business development responsibilities, making it ideal for a results-driven professional with both staffing industry experience and a passion for sales and client relationship management.

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll oversee internal operations, ensure exceptional service delivery, manage and coach staff, and actively pursue business growth opportunities. You'll serve as a strategic partner to local businesses, helping them solve workforce challenges through customized staffing solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Oversee daily branch operations to ensure timely recruitment, placement, and management of associates.

  • Supervise and coach internal staff; provide ongoing leadership, support, and performance feedback.

  • Ensure all employment practices comply with federal, state, and local laws and internal policies.

  • Track and report on office KPIs including gross margin, billable hours, fill rates, and client satisfaction.

  • Maintain accurate records in the database, including associate files, client information, and job orders.

  • Coordinate payroll submissions, timesheet approvals, and invoice accuracy.

  • Resolve escalated issues related to client service, employee performance, and staffing challenges.

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and market research.

  • Present Express services to key decision-makers across a variety of industries.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to support retention and growth.

  • Consult with clients on staffing needs and provide tailored workforce solutions.

  • Negotiate pricing, prepare service agreements, and ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.

  • Collaborate with recruiting and operations teams to deliver high-quality staffing services.


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of staffing industry experience preferred

  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role

  • 2+ years of business-to-business (B2B) sales or business development experience

  • Strong understanding of recruitment, client account management, and workforce compliance

  • Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, high-volume staffing environment

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
