The 5 Hottest Fields Hiring
The Most Non-College Graduates

2014 Express Employment Professionals Study Reveals Where the Jobs Are

Industrial Tops The List for Second Year, Engineering Moves Up From 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY, June 25, 2014 — For the second year in a row, Express Employment Professionals, the nation’s largest franchised staffing firm, released findings that reveal the hottest fields for workers without college degrees.

The findings come from a 2014 survey of 115 Express franchises across the nation. Respondents were asked to name the “five hottest fields hiring the most non-college graduates.”

The five most popular responses included industrial (86 percent), office services (67 percent), sales and marketing (62 percent), engineering and manufacturing (45 percent), and health care (36 percent). When the same question was asked in 2013, engineering did not make the top five.

The full results for both years are below.

“When looking for a job, you can’t just think about the jobs you want; you have to know the jobs that are available. The job search can be much more productive if you’re looking in the right places, and for the second year in a row, Express is able to provide the list of the right places,” said Bob Funk, CEO of Express, and a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

“If I were giving advice to someone looking for work, especially a non-college graduate, I would tell them to check these five fields. You have to go where the jobs are. This list is also valuable information for students looking to pursue a career technical education (CTE) to acquire the skills that are most in demand.”
