Express Employment of Downey is currently seeking a MANUAL MACHINIST for a valve manufacturer in the city of Bellflower, CA.
Schedule: MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, 7:30AM to 4:30PM (possible overtime)
Pay: $32.00 to $34.00 an hour (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)
Employment Type: direct hire
Job Responsibilities:
- Use precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment
- Fabricate and shape parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
- Properly and safely select, align, secure and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
- Use gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements
- Recognize, deploy and properly use inserts, fixtures and tooling
- Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
- Read and interpret blueprints
- Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
- Assist in other work areas and perform all other related duties, as needed and directed
Skills
- 5+ years' experience as a skilled manual machinist
- Must have general knowledge of: estimating time and materials for machine jobs, metals and the quality and machinability and uses of metals, machines and tools including their design/uses/repair/maintenance, design techniques/tools/principles involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings
- Clean background REQUIRED
- Must be U.S. citizen and be able to review/access ITAR, CUI, NNPI and similar regulations
- Ability to perform basic math computations; such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
- Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane
- Fluent English REQUIRED (bilingual is a PLUS)
- Ability consistently lift up to 50 pounds
