Heat Treat Operator
$20.00 -$21.00 per hour, DOE
7:00 am – 3:30 pm / Monday-Friday
A leading aerospace manufacturing company looking for a Heat Treat Operator responsible for producing quality parts by operating furnaces and related equipment to heat-treat aerospace components according to customer and production requirements. The operator will review blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to determine proper processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycles for each part. Heat Treat Operator Essential Functions:
- Review blueprints, manuals, and dispatch specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of operations.
- Locate and retrieve parts using carts or a stand-up forklift.
- Load and unload parts into furnaces using cranes and other lifting devices.
- Set up furnace loads to the correct temperature and follow all heat cycle requirements.
- Work with extreme heat and handle parts safely throughout the process.
- Move parts to the next processing stage as required.
- Operate presses, cranes, and other machinery as needed.
- Learn and perform all aspects of heat-treating processes, including quenching, normalizing, solution treatment, first temper, scrapping, and final temper.
- Conduct hardness testing and perform visual and dimensional inspections to ensure part quality.
Heat Treat Operator Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant manufacturing or machining experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; trade school or technical training in machining or thermal processing is a plus.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Certificate in Thermal Processing preferred.
- Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Comfortable working in high-temperature environments and operating industrial equipment safely.
