About the Position: The Transportation Specialist I plays a critical role in coordinating Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT), Non-Medical Transportation (NMT), and related travel benefits for health plan members. This position requires exceptional customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely, appropriate, and policy-compliant transportation support.
Job Description/ Responsibilities:
-Coordinate transportation services by effectively communicating with members, providers, and facilities
-Assist members with questions or issues related to transportation or travel benefits
-Communicate urgent health-related concerns to clinical team members
-Route calls and escalate needs to the appropriate teams when necessary
-Verify eligibility and determine appropriate benefit levels
-Gather and document medical information, contacting providers as needed
-Generate administrative denial letters and maintain detailed case notes
-Utilize electronic systems to retrieve and manage authorizations (TARs) and documentation
-Demonstrate knowledge of managed care structure and program requirements
-Represent the department professionally when handling incoming calls via ACD phone system
Qualifications:
-High School diploma or equivalent
-At least 1 year of experience in a medical, clerical, or customer service role
-Excellent communication, organization, and data entry skills
-Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
-Bilingual abilities in Spanish, Tagalog, or Russian are a plus
Shift: Training Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the first 5 weeks
Regular Shifts Post-Training: 8-hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday (shift times may vary)
Work Environment:
-Standard office environment with regular use of phone and computer
-Must be able to lift or move objects up to 10 lbs
-Shared workstations and open team communication required
Compensation: $25.00/hr to start
