Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll & HR Administrator to join a fast-paced transportation and logistics team. This role is responsible for overseeing payroll processing and supporting key human resource functions, including benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee support. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing payroll systems and employee data while supporting a dynamic workforce, including office personnel, shop staff, and drivers.


Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for office and shop personnel
  • Serve as backup or cross-trained support for driver payroll
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including direct deposits and manual checks
  • Manage deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and payroll adjustments
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records in compliance with federal and state laws
  • Oversee timekeeping systems, review timecards, and resolve discrepancies
  • Track employee PTO, sick leave, and benefits-related deductions
  • Administer per diem and reimbursements according to industry standards

Human Resources Support

  • Administer employee benefits: enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Assist with recruiting, screening, and onboarding new hires, ensuring compliance with DOT and labor laws
  • Maintain and update employee records in accordance with HR and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate annual trainings, certifications, and compliance documentation
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies
  • Support HR activities such as performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and offboarding

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to wage and hour laws and other applicable regulations
  • Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reports, including W-2s, 1099s, and related filings
  • Stay informed on changes to employment laws and industry-specific regulations

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and optimize payroll and HRIS systems for accuracy and efficiency
  • Collaborate with leadership to streamline payroll and HR procedures
  • Participate in audits, policy updates, and employee engagement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience:
    • 1–2 years in payroll and human resources
    • Industry experience in transportation or logistics preferred
    • Familiarity with payroll platforms (e.g., AS-400, QuickBooks, or equivalent)
  • Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of payroll processing and employment tax regulations
    • Benefits administration experience
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • High attention to detail and discretion with sensitive information
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Office-based

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $22.00-$25.00 per hour DOE
