Position Summary

The Payroll / HR Assistant supports day-to-day human resources and payroll operations with a strong emphasis on payroll processing using ADP. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll administration, maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding, and supporting compliance-related HR tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in fast-paced environments.


Key Responsibilities

Payroll (Primary Focus)

  • Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll using ADP accurately and on time

  • Maintain employee payroll records, timekeeping, and attendance data

  • Assist with payroll audits, corrections, and reconciliations

  • Process garnishments, child support orders, and wage attachments

  • Support payroll tax filings and respond to payroll-related inquiries

Human Resources Support

  • Assist with new hire onboarding, including documentation and system entry

  • Maintain employee personnel files and ensure confidentiality

  • Support benefits administration and employee changes

  • Complete and submit HR-related forms including EDD, employment verifications, and compliance documents

  • Assist with employee terminations and offboarding procedures

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Provide general HR administrative support to management

  • Communicate with employees regarding payroll and HR questions

  • Coordinate with staffing agencies when applicable

  • Support HR projects and process improvements as assigned


Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of payroll and HR support experience

  • Hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems (required)

  • Knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour compliance, and basic HR practices

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally

Preferred

  • Experience processing payroll for hourly employees in manufacturing or warehouse environments

  • Familiarity with timekeeping systems

  • Experience with child support, garnishments, and EDD documentation

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
