Position Summary

The Band Saw Operator is responsible for accurately cutting raw materials to specification using band saw equipment in a state-of-the-art fabrication facility equipped with advanced technologies including abrasive waterjet, fiber laser, CNC machinery, and a robust quality assurance program. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are prepared efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with quality, traceability, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor band saw equipment to cut metal and other materials according to work orders, drawings, and specifications

  • Measure, mark, and inspect materials to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards are met

  • Adjust blade speed, feed rate, and tension based on material type and thickness

  • Read and interpret work instructions, cut lists, blueprints, and job travelers

  • Maintain material traceability by properly labeling, documenting, and tracking materials throughout the cutting process

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance including blade changes, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting

  • Collaborate with CNC, waterjet, laser, and quality teams to support smooth workflow and production efficiency

  • Adhere to all safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Accurately record production data and report any non-conforming material or equipment issues

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Prior experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment preferred

  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers)

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and shop math

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn advanced manufacturing technologies

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required

  • Familiarity with ISO or formal quality systems a plus

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and fabrication setting utilizing advanced cutting and CNC technologies

  • Exposure to machinery, moving materials, and industrial noise (PPE required)

  • Team-oriented, fast-paced environment focused on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday  6:00 am - 2:30 pm
