Job Summary:
Seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Product Developer to lead the end-to-end development of new hat styles and product lines. In this role, you will ensure all products align with the brand identity and meet our standards for quality, innovation, and profitability. The ideal candidate will work closely with factory partners and importers, occasionally traveling to China for product development and market intelligence. You’ll also play a key role in sourcing new factories, training our sales team on product features, and maintaining healthy profit margins.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development: Lead the creation of new hat styles and product lines that reflect the brand and resonate with our customers. Ensure all products embody our “True Character” ethos, working closely with the company owner throughout the development process.
- Factory Relations: Collaborate directly with factory owners and importers to develop and refine products. Travel to China as needed to oversee production and gather market intelligence.
- Margin Management: Maintain company margin targets by collaborating with the accounting team to establish cost-effective production and appropriate retail pricing.
- Sales Training: Educate the sales team on product features and qualities, enabling them to effectively communicate the value of our hats to customers.
- Vendor Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and establish new factory partnerships that meet our quality, capacity, and ethical standards. Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing vendors.
- Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete product lifecycle—from initial concept to final production—guided by the company’s “Right” Guide and in alignment with the “12 Pillars of Product Development,” working closely with the company President.
- Catalog Development: Own and manage the company’s product master sheet and technical packs (Tech Packs), ensuring all product information is accurate and up to date.
- Team Management: Supervise the Product Development Specialist to ensure timely sampling, approvals, and on-schedule delivery of finished goods to the warehouse.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Seek input and feedback from colleagues and upper management during the creative process. While product development is your responsibility, collaboration and alignment with leadership are key to success.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in product development, ideally within the fashion, apparel, or accessories industry.
- Travel Flexibility: Willing and able to travel internationally, particularly to China, for factory visits, product development, and market research.
Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000 annually
