About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Buyer / Production Planner to manage procurement, production planning, inventory optimization, and supplier relationships in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MRP systems, strategic sourcing, production scheduling, and cross-functional collaboration within industries such as commercial manufacturing, medical devices, aerospace, or defense.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities, including Purchase Orders, Work Orders, MRP planning, and supplier management.
- Develop and execute production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery commitments.
- Analyze inventory levels, forecasts, and demand requirements to optimize stock availability and minimize excess inventory.
- Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers to achieve cost savings, quality targets, and supply continuity.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and engineering change processes (ECR/ECO).
- Coordinate Return to Vendor (RTV) activities, PPV analysis, and work-in-process (WIP) management.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure material availability and production readiness.
- Maintain BOM accuracy and support drawing/blueprint revision implementation.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Just-in-Time (JIT) principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage risk, and support supplier onboarding and compliance initiatives.
- Track and report supply chain KPIs while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support ISO 9001 compliance requirements and participate in internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.
- Experience working within manufacturing environments serving commercial, medical, aerospace, or defense industries.
- Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory control, demand planning, and procurement processes.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, MAPICS, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
