Senior Electrical Engineer
Location: Foster City, CA
Salary Range: $125,000–$175,000
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Transformer Business Unit in Foster City, California. This individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to lead the design and development of power conversion systems, including low, medium, and high voltage transformers and inductors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, project execution, and customer-focused engineering, and enjoy working on innovative products deployed in demanding applications ranging from industrial to medical, military, and aerospace.
What You Will Do
- Lead design and development of low, medium, and high voltage transformers, inductors, power distribution units, and power conversion/control products.
- Collaborate with program management and cross-functional teams including sales, procurement, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering.
- Generate product specifications for new R&D efforts and customer requirements.
- Apply tools such as Cadence, Creo, and Rale to model and analyze electrical designs.
- Generate complete manufacturing documentation: schematic diagrams, BOMs, assembly drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Perform MTBF and DFMEA analyses to validate reliability and mitigate design risk.
- Develop and execute design verification test (DVT) procedures; support root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Interface directly with customers to ensure product performance aligns with application and compliance requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for design for manufacturability (DFM) and engineering excellence.
What You Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in medium or high voltage electrical systems design.
- Proven experience in transformer and power system development.
- Deep understanding of electrical components used in power conversion and transformer applications.
- Familiarity with agency compliance standards (UL, CSA, VDE, CE).
- Experience with Cadence, Creo, Rale is a plus.
- Knowledge of medium and high voltage design practices and manufacturing techniques preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills.
