Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: San Jose, CA
Position Type: Contract (9–12 months)
Salary: $38.00–$45.00/hour
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Human Resources Generalist to join our client’s HR team and support initiatives aligned with business objectives. This role plays a pivotal part in enhancing all aspects of HR, with a strong focus on day-to-day operations and compliance.
The Role
As an HR Generalist, you will:
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and team leads, addressing questions, concerns, and promoting engagement.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and team leaders to design and implement targeted solutions aligned with company goals.
- Partner with the Benefits Team to facilitate employee requests and ensure smooth benefits administration.
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and programs that foster a positive culture and ensure compliance.
- Work closely with the Payroll Team to ensure accuracy in pay-impacting transactions.
- Support the Talent Acquisition process, assisting managers and candidates throughout the hiring journey.
- Partner with department managers, HR, and IT to streamline the employee experience—including onboarding, offboarding, and internal transfers.
- Assist with leave of absence (LOA) administration, wage and hour compliance, EEOC matters, and other legal updates.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Background
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor's degree and 2–3 years of HR experience, including HR systems, talent acquisition, people metrics, benefits, LOA, compensation, and California employment law (especially wage and hour).
- Experience managing day-to-day HR operations.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and HRIS systems (Paycom experience is a plus).
- Ability to interpret and communicate policy changes.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to apply expertise to reach effective solutions.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to confidentiality.
Bonus Qualifications
It’s a plus if you have:
- An HR certification (PHR or SHRM).
- Experience supporting team leads.
- Hands-on experience with Paycom or similar HRIS platforms.
- Expertise in benefits and California LOA administration.
- Comfort with shifting priorities and handling interruptions.
