Job Title: Steward Supervisor
Schedule: Tuesday thru Saturday (Sunday/Monday off) Varied hours - depends on the events happening each week.
Pay Range: $31.29/hr.
Description/Requirements: Oversees the general kitchen cleanliness, inventories, sanitization, and organization as directed by the Executive Chef and ensures all contract cleaners perform their duties as required. Carries out daily responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and supervising daily work; working with labor management systems and ensuring all CA labor laws are adhered to. Also addressing and resolving employee concerns and ensuring the highest hygiene standards are adhered to.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise all stewards to ensure all dishes and equipment are properly washed and stored and sanitized.
- Train all new stewards and continually train/develop existing stewards.
- Ensure stewards are always presentable and dressed to company standards
- Assist Executive Chef with monitoring labor costs for stewarding department by forecasting business levels ahead of time and reacting to changing business volumes.
- Monitor meal breaks, rest breaks and PTO/sick days for Stewarding to ensure company and state compliance.
- Maintain employee schedules and timesheets for the department (based on business volumes) on a daily basis. Maintaining the correct amount of labor as needed for the property, utilizing outside resources effectively when required.
- Assist in disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in dishwashing stations and banquet pantries
- Work with Executive Chef and F&B department heads to schedule regular cleaning projects throughout the back of house areas.
- Ensure recycling and garbage is properly disposed of and the area/containers are clean/sanitized on a regular basis.
- Organize inventory of all china, glass, silverware and kitchen equipment and inform Executive Chef if more is needed.
- Co-ordinate, order and oversee all chemicals and detergents for the property with the purchasing manager.
- Coordinate with chefs, restaurant managers and banquet management for any items or actions needed from stewarding.
- Must understand health department standards for dish washing areas
- Attend all departmental meetings as directed by Executive Steward
- Assist with Night Cleaning team when required.

Essential Work Skills
- Must be able to organize and coordinate multiple employees simultaneously.
- Effective communication, administrative and people skills.
- The ability to develop and mentor the stewarding team members.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Able to work standing for extended periods of time
- Basic computer knowledge (email, excel, word, office etc.)
- This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work different shifts and nights and weekends.
Experience:
- Must have a High School diploma
- Ability to speak Fluent Spanish is necessary as well as English.
- Must have 2 years kitchen/stewarding/restaurant experience.
- Must have the necessary health and safety certification.
