Job Full Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Machine Shop Tool and Die Maker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and modifying tooling and dies to support our manufacturing needs. You will work closely with multiple departments including Production, Engineering, and Supervisors to ensure on-time delivery while adhering to AS9100 quality standards. Your ability to interpret complex design schematics, work with precision tools, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives will be key to your success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and design schematics.
- Visualize and compute metal shapes and tolerances for tooling and dies.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and templates to assist in part fabrication.
- Diagnose, plan, and fulfill tooling needs for production.
- Modify dies and tooling to accommodate engineering changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet tooling and die requirements.
- Measure and mark metal stock for machining processes.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
- Work from CAD/CAM files and verbal instructions to perform complex machining tasks.
- Inspect finished tools and dies for defects and accuracy.
- Conduct test runs with completed tools and dies to ensure quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free workspace.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the machine shop.

What We Are Looking For:
- High school diploma or GED; technical certifications (NASA, JSTD, IPC, CPIM) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tool making or a similar role.
- Proficient in blueprint reading and advanced shop math.
- Skilled in the use of precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions closely.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage tight schedules.
- Must be legally able to work for an ITAR-restricted employer.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and meet the demands of the job.
