Purchasing Assistant
Van Nuys, CA
Full time - Temp to hire
Monday through Friday – 9am to 5pm
$24hr to $30hr depending on experience.

Summary: Seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Purchasing Assistant to support our growing product and packaging sourcing operations. In this role, you will assist in managing pricing proposals, sourcing merchandise, creating purchase orders, and coordinating production timelines across vendor partners. You will play a key part in elevating the quality and execution of client swag programs, branded kits, and shop consumables.
Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and recommend high-quality, on-brand merchandise and packaging components.
- Build accurate client-facing pricing decks and organize product specs and visuals for approval.
- Create purchase orders, track order progress, and manage vendor communication from proofing through delivery.
- Review and manage artwork, PMS color matching, stitch counts, print areas, and pre-production samples.
- Monitor production schedules and proactively resolve delays or quality issues.
- Forecast and purchase everyday packaging supplies (corrugated mailers, SBS boards, tape, tissue, labels, inserts).
- Ensure optimized pack-outs for presentation, protection, and cost efficiency, including awareness of dimensional weight and shipping considerations.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate favorable pricing and lead times.
- Support multiple active orders and deadlines simultaneously with accuracy and follow-through.
Qualifications:
- Experience in purchasing, merchandising, sourcing, or production—ideally within promotional products, packaging, retail, or branded merchandise.
- Strong research and negotiation skills with the ability to evaluate product quality and vendor capabilities.
- High attention to detail in pricing, product specifications, and documentation.
- Proficiency with presentation-building and organizing product details into clear, client-ready formats.
- Excellent communication and vendor management skills.
- Strong time management and ability to balance multiple concurrent orders and client needs.
