Pressroom Operator
Chatsworth, CA
Full time – Temp to hire
Monday thru Thursday – 6am to 2:30pm
$19hr to $24hr depending on experience.
A third-generation sheet metal stamping company specializing in both short-run tooling and long-term production runs is seeking a Pressroom Operator to join its team. The organization is known for precision manufacturing, quality craftsmanship, and a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Summary: In this position you will reduce parts to customer’s specifications and a safe and timely matter.
Responsibilities:
- Operate manual and automatic equipment.
- Ship product to recipient as required.
- Receive product from shipper as required.
- Position, align, or secure workpieces against fixtures, jigs or stops on machine beds, dies or worktable.
- Read and understand blueprints, job cards and work instructions to determine specifications, locations of product features, dimensions and tolerances.
- Install, align, and lock specified punches, dies or other fixtures in rams or beds, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
- Understand customer prints – dimensions, features, written notes, etc.
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers.
- Notifies supervisor of parts or assemblies not meeting specifications.
- Provide feedback to supervisor, engineers as to fit, tolerance, appearance or questionable procedures/practices.
Qualifications:
- Education – High School diploma or GED with minimum one-year work related experience or training.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
- Knowledge of basic algebra and geometry.
- Production and processing knowledge pertaining to raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of product.
- Knowledge principals involved in resource location, production, and coordination of people and resources.
- Mechanical aptitude concerning machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
