Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Express Employment Professionals of Centennial is partnered with a high-tech engineering and manufacturing company in Centennial to hire an Engineering Apprentice / Engineering Technician to support R&D and product development efforts. This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on technical skills who wants to grow into an engineering career path while working in a lab environment building, testing, and troubleshooting electro-mechanical products.

This position blends electrical assembly, engineering lab support, and technical problem-solving, making it a great opportunity for candidates with electronics training, engineering curiosity, and a desire to advance their technical skill set.

Duties / Highlights

  • Assemble and solder surface-mount and through-hole components on PCBs (including fine-pitch, 0201s, BGAs)
  • Build engineering prototypes, development samples, and custom electro-mechanical products
  • Perform wiring, cable, and harness assembly involving fine-pitch connectors
  • Assemble prototype chassis and align mechanical or optical systems
  • Program, calibrate, and test new and existing products using engineering tools
  • Troubleshoot returned or failed products, document findings, and repair to working order
  • Support qualification, validation, and sustaining engineering testing
  • Operate and set up test equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, and thermal chambers
  • Take qualitative and quantitative measurements and interpret results
  • Assist in design reviews and creation of test procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering lab environment
  • Document technical results and summarize findings in reports
  • Work closely with engineers to support new product development and continuous improvement

What We Look For (Required Skills)

  • High school diploma or equivalent (electronics or technical degree strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated soldering experience with surface-mount and through-hole components
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with small components
  • Basic understanding of electronics, mechanical systems, and assembly processes
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and BOMs
  • Comfortable using computers and software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and develop engineering-level skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work in a lab/testing environment

Preferred / Bonus Skills

  • Experience with Altium or Altium 365
  • Exposure to schematic capture or PCB layout tools
  • Familiarity with IPC standards or ISO 9001 environments
  • Experience supporting R&D or engineering teams
  • Background in products that combine electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software technologies
