Job Full Description
We are looking to hire a Senior Accountant
Duties
General Ledger Management
- Maintain and manage the general ledger, including the setup and oversight of the chart of accounts.
- Record and adjust journal entries as needed to ensure accurate financial records.
- Apply debits and credits appropriately to reflect business transactions.
Financial Statement Preparation
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Review and analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, or inconsistencies.
Accounts Payable (AP) and Receivable (AR)
- Process all accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment runs, and expense reimbursements.
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, cash application, collections, and aging report reviews.
Bank Reconciliation
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank activity and general ledger records.
Payroll Processing
- Process biweekly/monthly payroll and ensure timely payroll tax submissions.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Month-End and Year-End Close
- Participate in and/or lead the month-end close process, including reconciliation of all key accounts.
- Prepare and post accruals, deferrals, and closing journal entries.
- Assist in the year-end close and support tax and audit preparation.
Tax Knowledge
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax regulations.
- Prepare or assist in issuing 1099s and W-2s.
- Collaborate with external CPAs or tax professionals during year-end tax preparation.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual results against budgets and report on budget variances.
- Support management with financial planning and analysis as needed.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Maintain and enforce internal accounting controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) or other financial regulations as applicable.
- Prepare documentation for financial audits and assist with auditor inquiries.
ERP / Accounting Software Proficiency
- Utilize accounting software to manage financial data and generate reports.
- Maintain accurate records within the accounting system and ensure software is used efficiently.
- Support or lead accounting system implementations or migrations, when applicable.
