Our client in Milford, CT is is a leading manufacturer specializing in high-quality precision components and surface treatments. 

The Electroplating Lab Technician will be responsible for performing electroplating processes to apply metal coatings to various substrates, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electroplating techniques, chemistry, and manufacturing/laboratory procedures.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an electroplating or related laboratory environment. Experience with a variety of plating techniques and experience with ICP and fluorescent’s required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electroplating Operations: Operate and maintain electroplating equipment and systems, including plating tanks, power supplies, and associated instrumentation.
  • Preparation and Mixing: Prepare plating solutions and chemicals according to established formulas, including measuring, mixing, and adjusting solution parameters as needed.
  • Quality Control: Monitor and test plating processes to ensure quality and consistency, including conducting thickness measurements, adhesion tests, and visual inspections.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance on plating equipment, identify and troubleshoot process issues, and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of plating processes, solution chemistry, and quality control results. Prepare reports and communicate findings to supervisors and engineering teams.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to electroplating processes and chemical handling. Ensure proper use and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability in plating operations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in chemistry, metallurgy, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an electroplating or related laboratory environment. Experience with a variety of plating techniques and experience with ICP and fluorescent’s required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electroplating processes, chemical handling, and laboratory practices. Familiarity with plating solutions and metal properties.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail with a focus on precision and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve process and equipment issues.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
