Quality Control Tech

 

Position Summary: 
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for continuously monitoring, inspecting and testing reinforced concrete pipes to verify conformance to internal specifications, industry standards (e.g. ASTM, NPCA, FDOT), and regulatory requirements. The QC tech will work to ensure product consistency, safety and performance throughout the manufacturing process. 

Ideal for recent graduates in Construction Management, Engineering, or related Sciences looking to launch a hands-on, impactful career in the building materials manufacturing industry.

Essential Job Functions/Duties:

  • Successfully plan and execute product and material testing at proper intervals 
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed ASTM and DOT specs
  • Perform daily tests to ensure product quality (cylinder breaks, pre-pour / post-pour, wire check, etc.)
  • Inspects materials, parts and products at different stages of production
  • Records observations and may make recommendations for improving processes 
  • Test and document fresh and hardened concrete in accordance with industry standard 
  • Communicate and work with plant personnel to resolve quality issues related to casting and concrete performance
  • Maintain and document calibration and maintenance of QC testing equipment 
  • Inspect and stamp product according to DOT standards prior to shipment 
  • Maintain all plant and personal certifications thru ACPA, NPCA, and multiple DOT’s  
  • Interact with government and industry inspectors as needed 
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the construction and/or building materials industry preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interpret shop drawings and job specifications.
  • Proficient Computer Skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Solid math aptitude.
  • Must be capable of receiving training and obtain technical certifications as directed and supported by the company.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • We will train you and help you obtain your ACI, NPCA and Florida DOT Certifications!

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to multitask 
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to keep and maintain all required documentation 
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision 

 

Work Environment:

  • Work in indoor and outdoor weather conditions, including extreme hot temperatures
  • Work near moving machinery and equipment - could include electrical hazards
  • Work in a noisy environment

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Carrying/Lifting 10 - 40 Pounds frequently
  • Carrying/Lifting > 40 Pounds occasionally
