Job Full Description
We are partnered with a well-established and growing precision metals manufacturing company in Sarasota, Florida, who is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Lead to join their team. This new position is critical to centralizing and streamlining their purchasing efforts for raw materials, tooling, and supplies. The ideal candidate will be a dependable team player with a strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills, ready to make a lasting impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Request and evaluate quotes from vendors based on technical specs and project requirements
- Create detailed, accurate purchase orders; monitor and follow up on order status
- Review drawings and technical specs to calculate raw material needs
- Maintain organized and accurate purchase records
- Track outstanding orders, manage vendor communication and delivery timelines
- Collaborate with internal teams (machinists, engineers, managers) to ensure smooth production flow
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; source new vendors as needed
- Assist with customer communication and generate detailed reports using Excel
- Receive materials and ensure traceability through labeling and documentation
- Support invoice matching and accounts payable processes
- Pitch in with customer service, shipping/receiving, or administrative tasks as needed
- Contribute to maintaining an organized and efficient office environment
Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment; previous purchasing experience in manufacturing is required
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for raw material identification and quantity calculations
- Strong understanding of material certifications, DFAR compliance, and procurement practices
- High attention to detail and accuracy in creating purchase orders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), QuickBooks (or similar ERP), and Outlook
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to work with large data sets and reports
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with professional grammar and spelling
- Ability to make sound decisions independently
- Positive, proactive attitude and problem-solving mindset
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
