Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Casting Engineer to support and optimize silicone and polyurethane manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for developing casting methods, improving production efficiency, and ensuring high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with casting processes, materials, and mold design, along with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimization
- Develop and improve silicone and polyurethane casting processes
- Conduct testing and trials to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Monitor production performance and implement process improvements
Material & Technical Expertise
- Select appropriate materials based on product requirements
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on material performance and development
- Apply knowledge of curing processes, properties, and formulations
Mold Design & Tooling
- Design and optimize molds based on product specifications
- Work with tooling vendors to ensure accurate and timely mold fabrication
- Evaluate mold performance and recommend improvements
Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain quality standards and inspection procedures
- Identify defects and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and production standards
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Troubleshoot production issues and lead root cause analysis
- Implement solutions to improve yield, cycle time, and efficiency
- Apply Lean or Six Sigma principles where applicable
Documentation & Training
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation
- Train production staff on casting processes and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field (preferred)
- Experience with silicone and/or polyurethane casting processes
- Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing techniques
- Experience with mold design and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Familiarity with quality systems (ISO or similar) is a plus
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment
