Job Title: Cement Truck Driver (Ready-Mix)
Job Summary
The Cement Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of ready-mix concrete to construction job sites and other designated locations. This position involves operating a commercial mixer truck, performing pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining concrete quality during transit, and working closely with dispatchers, batch plant personnel, and job site crews to ensure safe, efficient concrete placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a ready-mix concrete truck in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicle, mixer drum, chutes, and safety equipment
- Transport ready-mix concrete from the batch plant to job sites efficiently and on schedule
- Maintain concrete quality by monitoring slump, drum rotation, and water additions per company policy
- Properly position truck at job sites and safely discharge concrete using chutes or extensions
- Communicate clearly with dispatch, plant personnel, and job site supervisors
- Wash out truck, chutes, and equipment after deliveries in designated areas
- Complete required delivery tickets, logs, and inspection reports accurately
- Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents immediately
- Follow all traffic laws, site-specific safety requirements, and PPE policies
- Assist with yard duties or light maintenance as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) (Class A preferred in some operations)
- Current DOT medical card
- Clean driving record (per company and insurance standards)
- Ability to operate manual or automatic transmission mixer trucks
- Basic understanding of concrete materials and placement procedures
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb in and out of truck cab and onto ladders/platforms
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (chutes, extensions, tools)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Extended periods of driving, standing, walking, and physical activity
Work Environment
- Construction job sites, highways, and concrete batch plant facilities
- Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and wet concrete
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility clothing
Schedule & Availability
- Full-time position
- Early mornings, overtime, weekends, and seasonal extended hours may be required
Preferred Experience & Certifications (Not Required)
- Previous ready-mix or concrete delivery experience
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Concrete mixer driver training or certification
