Job Summary:
Our client is a leader in the building materials industry and is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, facility management, and team development at their location. This role plays a key part in driving operational efficiency, team performance, and customer satisfaction while maintaining safety and profitability standards.
Here's What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:

Oversee the overall operations and physical conditions of the facility and equipment

Manage delivery and warehousing functions, working closely with department leads

Budget and control operating costs to meet or exceed annual profit targets

Plan and implement operational strategies, departmental goals, and workflow priorities

Compile and review operational reports to evaluate on-time deliveries, back orders, and team efficiency

Supervise and support Plant Managers or Supervisors, including hiring, training, and development

Resolve issues related to processes, maintenance, inventory, orders, equipment, and systems

Coordinate staffing and scheduling across Warehouse, Shipping, Yard, Office, and Purchasing

Address and resolve employee relations issues, promoting a positive and productive work environment

Collaborate cross-departmentally with Production, Sales, and Finance to optimize interdepartmental processes

Lead employee training programs and succession planning for drivers, yard staff, and supervisors
-
Evaluate vendors, recommend changes, and monitor service performance to maintain competitive advantage

Participate in operational decision-making such as order acceptance

Enforce and improve safety practices in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company policies
-
Plan and implement facility and equipment upgrades and maintenance

Represent the company at trade events, Home Builder’s Association meetings, LMC events, and customer functions
Schedule & Pay:
Salary: $70,000–$75,000/year + annual performance-based bonuses
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM (10-hour shift)
Here's What Makes YOU a Great Fit:

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience in the lumber or building materials industry

Proven leadership in all phases of operations and business management

Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and personnel supervision

Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage cross-functional teams

Strong customer service skills and ability to build productive team environments

Familiarity with DOT regulations, OSHA compliance, forklift operations, and general safety policies

Involvement in industry groups such as the Home Builder’s Association is a plus
