Job Summary:
Company A seeks an experienced and strategic Purchasing Specialist to lead
our procurement operations and ensure the consistent, cost-effective supply of
materials is critical to our laboratory and operational success. This role will be
responsible for identifying and managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts,
maintaining inventory control, and aligning purchasing strategies with organizational
goals.
Job Responsibilities:
• Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms,
pricing, and contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Work closely with the Lab and other departments to assure products are stocked
and ordered in advance to avoid shortages
• Create and manage purchase orders, receiving entries, and related invoices that
follow company procedures, ensuring accurate and timely records that affect
company financials.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, reliability, and delivery
timelines, addressing issues as they arise and seeking alternative suppliers if
necessary.
• Negotiate favorable pricing and terms with suppliers to maximize cost savings
and maintain budgetary targets.
• Continuously improve purchasing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead
times, and ensure consistent availability of critical supplies
• Ensure that all purchases meet regulatory requirements, especially in terms of
medical and laboratory standards.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory levels, and supplier
communications for audit and compliance purposes.
• Work closely with departments such as Laboratory and Operations to align
inventory and purchasing strategies with organizational goals.
• Provide regular reports on purchasing activities, and cost metrics to
management, offering insights for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Experience with Fishbowl and Quickbooks preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
management
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.
