Heavy Equipment Operator – Front End Loader Operator
Location: Channahon, IL
Pay: $19/hr
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift Available
Start: ASAP
Requirements: Drug test & background check required
Job Summary
This role focuses on preparing organic mixes using a front‑end loader, maintaining proper material flow, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of heavy equipment. You’ll be a key part of production by managing stockpiles, feeding material into shakers, and supporting daily operational needs.
Skills & Competencies
- Operating and maintaining heavy equipment such as loaders and dozers
- Maintaining safe stockpile slopes to ensure a secure work environment
- Working long hours in dusty, hot conditions while seated in a loader
- Climbing into and out of equipment repeatedly throughout the shift
- Understanding safe practices and procedures in an industrial environment
- Reading English and following instructions clearly and accurately
- Working in all weather conditions including heat, cold, dust, and rain
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare organic mixes using Bill of Materials to ensure correct ingredients and proportions
- Supply production lines with continuous material flow
- Push and shape piles to meet Environmental Health Services criteria
- Perform daily safety and equipment checks before operating the loader
- Receive, verify, and organize load tickets for end‑of‑day inventory processing
- Refuel loader using electric diesel pump while following all safety protocols
- Monitor stockpiles for heat and moisture and turn piles as needed
- Meet quality and quantity production standards
- Perform minor equipment maintenance as required
- Verify material quantities accurately
