Diesel Mechanic
Location: Channahon, IL
Pay: $35–$42 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
No weekends
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Channahon. This is a shop-based role focused on heavy-duty repair work. If you have strong mechanical experience and enjoy working on complex repairs in a stable, weekday schedule, this could be a great fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform heavy-duty repairs, including removal and replacement of transmissions and differentials
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Complete general shop maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment
- Ensure all repairs are completed safely and efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic
- Strong experience with transmissions, differentials, and heavy mechanical work
- Electrical and diagnostic skills preferred
- Engine rebuild experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment
- All work is performed in the shop
- Very limited travel; rare need to go to a customer site
- No roadside service work
