Senior Accountant

Location: Grayslake, IL (Onsite)
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Salary: $85,000 annually

Our client in Grayslake is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in a full-time, onsite capacity. This direct-hire role will support the Controller and play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will bring solid accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and prior experience within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

• Partner closely with the Controller to support daily accounting operations and departmental objectives
• Review financial data and general ledger transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP standards
• Prepare and support month-end close activities, including journal entries and accrual calculations
• Conduct routine balance sheet account reviews and reconciliations to maintain data integrity
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed
• Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation schedules and asset tracking
• Assist with audit preparation and contribute to accurate and timely year-end reporting
• Analyze revenue and expense activity to ensure proper monthly recognition
• Prepare internal financial schedules related to commissions, credits, and reimbursements
• Review and reconcile employee expense reports and corporate credit card statements
• Oversee administrative management of the company vehicle program, including registrations and documentation
• Support annual budgeting and help analyze monthly actual-to-budget variances
• Perform credit reviews for new customers, including analysis of trade references and credit data
• Assist with continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls

Qualifications:

• Ideally 5+ years of experience (minimum of 2 years) 
• Required Degree (Bachelors or Associates) in Accounting or Finance 
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting requirements
• Demonstrated experience operating within a robust internal control environment
• Ability to interpret business activity and apply appropriate accounting treatment
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or production-based environment strongly preferred
• Experience managing intercompany activity, reconciliations, and financial analysis
• Background in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and consistency
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at all levels
• Comfortable working independently while also contributing within a collaborative team
• Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
