Material Handler
Location: Lincolnshire
Temp to Hire
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Mandatory Overtime Required)
Pay: $25.00/hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a Material Handler to join a growing manufacturer of large industrial machines used to make and repair metal parts. These machines are commonly found in machine shops and production facilities throughout the manufacturing industry. This is a hands-on role that combines warehouse, assembly, shipping/receiving, and machine preparation responsibilities. The ideal candidate enjoys physical work, has experience operating a sit-down forklift, and is comfortable using hand and power tools. This position works closely with industrial equipment and machinery in a manufacturing environment where attention to detail, safety, and teamwork are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift to move, stage, load, and unload machines and materials.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including inventory movement and material handling.
- Use hand and power tools to assemble and build machine frames and components.
- Clean, prepare, and inspect industrial machinery prior to shipment.
- Apply touch-up paint to machines and equipment as needed.
- Shrink wrap machines and equipment for safe transportation and delivery.
- Read and use measuring tapes to verify dimensions and specifications.
- Assist with machine loading, securing, and material movement throughout the facility.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow company safety procedures and wear required PPE, including steel-toed shoes.
- Work overtime as needed to support production and customer demands.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience operating a sit-down forklift is required.
- Experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or machine shop environments preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and accurately use a measuring tape.
- Rigging experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to work in a hands-on, industrial environment around grease, machinery, and manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred.
