Customer Service Representative (Personal Lines Insurance)

 

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Customer Service Representative to join our team. This position is focused on providing outstanding service in personal lines insurance, including Auto, Home, and Umbrella. The CSR will handle customer service needs, policy changes, and internal cross-selling, while supporting agency operations. This is a full-time, in-office role requiring strong organizational skills, high integrity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

 

Location: De Soto, KS (Office-Based)
Employment Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Hire
Work Conditions: Office Environment
Pay: $22.00 per hour (range up to $25/hr depending on licensing and experience)
Work Hours: Monday – Thursday, 8:45am – 5:15pm; Friday, 8:45am – 4:15pm

 

Licensing Requirement:

  • Must obtain Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance licenses.

  • Preference given to candidates who already have both licenses.

  • Licenses must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.

  • Costs for licensing will be reimbursed if hired on after initial period with Express.


Position Summary:
The Customer Service Representative will support daily agency operations, specializing in personal lines insurance. This role requires a strong customer focus, the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting, and a willingness to engage in cross-selling opportunities. While not an external sales role, the position requires comfort with internal sales and lead follow-up.


Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line service for incoming customer requests via phone, email, and in-person.

  • Process policy changes, billing inquiries, claims support, and customer account updates.

  • Serve as liaison between customers and business partners.

  • Prepare quotes and assist with new business eligibility.

  • Identify cross-sell opportunities and coordinate with sales team as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records and document retention procedures.

  • Schedule customer appointments and support agency events.

  • Assist with cash handling and daily administrative tasks.

  • Ensure a positive customer experience by building trust and strong relationships.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior customer service experience in an office environment (5+ years preferred).

  • Must be willing and able to obtain insurance licensing within first 30 days.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities quickly.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic office technology.

  • High integrity, empathy, and a team-oriented mindset.

  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight.
