Job Full Description
Express Employment is seeking MIG Welders for a great company on the Eastern part of Shelby County. These positions are Monday - Friday early morning / day shift hours.
Key Responsibilities
MIG welders operate welding machinery to join metal parts using gas metal arc welding (GMAW) techniques. Their duties include reading and interpreting blueprints or schematics to determine specifications, preparing metal surfaces by cleaning and grinding, and selecting appropriate welding wires and shielding gases for different materials and thicknesses
They also inspect welding equipment, set electrode polarity, and ensure proper wire feed tension for optimal performance
Additional tasks may involve cutting, measuring, and assembling metal components, building or adjusting jigs, and testing weld strength during and after completion
Skills and Qualifications
Successful MIG welders require strong technical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of various metals and their properties
Physical stamina is essential due to long hours standing, lifting heavy objects, and performing repetitive motions
Proficiency with hand tools, grinders, lathes, and power saws is often required.
