A major freight and cargo service in Rapides Parish, LA is seeking a dependable and experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair its fleet of trucks and trailers. This role is essential to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation operations by minimizing downtime and keeping equipment in top working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems on fleet vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and preventative inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Inspect trucks and trailers to ensure DOT compliance and safety standards
- Repair or replace components such as alternators, starters, air systems, and suspension parts
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all work performed
- Respond to breakdowns and perform emergency roadside repairs as needed
- Work closely with operations to prioritize repairs and reduce downtime
