Equipment Maintenance Helper – Baton Rouge, LA
EVALUATION HIRE
$15-20 / hr.
Mon-Fri 7 am – 4:30 pm
Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing and recruiting firm, is hiring an Equipment Mechanic / Shop helper responsible for the inspection, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of pumps, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment. This position supports industrial clients in the petrochemical, refining, and municipal sectors, ensuring equipment is serviced to the highest quality and safety standards.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Equipment Mechanic / Shop Helper:

Disassemble, clean, and inspect pumps, compressors, and related rotating equipment.

Diagnose wear, damage, or operational issues and recommend repair solutions.

Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other tools.

Repair or replace bearings, seals, impellers, shafts, and other components.
-
Reassemble and test equipment to ensure proper performance before release.

Follow shop safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Accurately complete work orders, inspection reports, and documentation.

Collaborate with field service and sales teams to meet customer requirements.
- Assist with any other tasks needed around the shop.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on repair background.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Skilled in precision measurement and mechanical assembly.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and goal-oriented.
- Critical thinker with good organizational skills.
