Plating Associate
Location: Billerica, MA
Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Hours: 6:00AM to 2:30PM, M-F
Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Plating Associate to join our client's manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying protective coatings to various metal components through electroplating and other finishing processes. Your expertise will ensure that products meet strict quality standards, safety protocols, and production deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review new job cards to determine plating procedures required to meet specifications
- Cleaning, masking and activating the base material per internal processes
- Determining the current densities or voltages to properly plate or anodize materials
- Evaluate the time to plate, based on load size and current densities
- Properly rack or wire materials for plating in electroplating baths
- Verifying the thickness of both undercoats and final coating of all plating
- Submit samples to quality for both verification and testing ad required
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years as plating/anodizing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Nadcap requirements and Mil-Specs preferred
- Read blueprints and determine the requirements relate to the finish specifications
- Understanding of the safe use of the chemicals involved in the plating process
- Working knowledge of temperatures and agitation needs of processing tanks.
- Skill with micrometers and X-Ray fluorescence machines to determine thickness
- Knowledge of how to properly strip a finish from a base material
- Experience with masking as required for the plating process
- Effective communication skills.
