Job Full Description

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dismantle, clean, inspect, repair, paint, and rebuild machinery and equipment for demonstration, testing, or development purposes

  • Read and interpret a variety of blueprints, including hydraulic schematics and assembly diagrams

  • Use hand tools and power tools to disassemble, modify, and reassemble machinery

  • Fit and lay out mating parts for assemblies and perform layout work such as scribing and spot-punching

  • Replace worn or defective parts and reassemble equipment to operational condition

  • Adjust and fine-tune timing and clearance of control devices to meet specifications

  • Set up and operate primary and auxiliary equipment for testing; record test results and make observations as required

  • Conduct routine evaluations of sample materials and modify components as needed for successful test completion

  • Maintain and support shop machinery and equipment used in the testing and rebuilding process


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or 3 years of technical coursework beyond high school

  • 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience with equipment rebuilds, testing, or machine assembly

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints and hydraulic schematics

  • Familiarity with using hand tools, small power tools, and precision measuring instruments

  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and/or pipe fitting

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a hands-on, shop-based environment


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience operating general shop machinery (drill press, lathe, grinders, etc.)

  • Electrical hookup and troubleshooting experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with high attention to detail and safety

  • Capable of recording and reporting detailed test data accurately


Work Environment:

  • Industrial or testing facility setting

  • Physically demanding role requiring standing, lifting, bending, and working with tools and equipment

  • Exposure to noise, machinery, and test environments

  • Willing to travel

Schedule:

  • Full-time; standard weekday hours with occasional overtime as needed
