Job Full Description
The Procurement Officer is responsible for researching and negotiating the best price and quality for our supply needs. The Procurement Officer will establish relationships and serve as a representative of the company when negotiating contracts and building vendor and supplier trust as well as track and monitor the delivery and confirmation of all materials and supplies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers
- Create and maintain good relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Request quotes and compare prices for maximum savings and efficiencies
- Materials Acquisition - Direct development and administration of an effective program to determine and provide necessary quantities and inventory levels of materials and supplies. Apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Inventory Control - Establish and maintain planned levels that are consistent with production needs. Accountable for preparation of and disposition of excess and obsolete materials. Drive implementation of engineering changes to eliminate excess and obsolete material.
- Shipping and Receiving Services - Responsible for accurate receipt and disbursement of material to the right location and department.
- Budget Requirements - Keep the annual budget for materials management functions and operate within prescribed limits. Drive material cost reduction efforts.
- Review CDI changes along with the global supply and propose material parameters changes where needed
- Lead risk assessment process and execution, and determine effective risk mitigation sourcing strategies in collaboration with Souring, Manufacturing, and key internal stakeholders
- Effectively manage programs end to end, including in-region projects, metrics and track related key performance indicators
- Develop and implement capability building programs for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and other upstream partners
- Follow up, research and implementation of global materials regulations, standards, literature, and guidance regarding responsible supply chain development
- Implement and manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships to provide business insight on risk management, corrective and preventive actions
- Develop and maintain raw materials risk management system
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries, and develop effective internal and external communication materials
- Provide guidance and support on compliance and sustainability transparency/reporting
- Support supplier escalations, phase out and/or substitute plans
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has one purchasing assistant reporting to them.
Required Education and Experience
- High school degree or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or related field preferred
- Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes, policy, and systems
- Two years previous experience as purchasing officer, manager, or related position
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to negotiate, establish, and process contracts
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
