Welder I / Grinder
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Welder I / Grinder to support production and custom fabrication projects. This role involves material preparation, grinding, basic fit-up, assisting with welding and fabrication, and producing quality work while following established safety and manufacturing procedures.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Location: St. Louis, MO
Pay: $20 - $30 per hour (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
- Read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and specifications
- Perform grinding, sanding, deburring, polishing, and material preparation
- Assist with fit-up, fabrication, welding, and assembly operations
- Operate grinders, saws, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Clean and prepare weldments for finishing and inspection
- Inspect parts and assemblies to ensure quality standards are met
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Support production schedules while maintaining quality and safety standards
Qualifications
- 1+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, grinding, or welding experience preferred
- Basic MIG welding experience preferred
- Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and technical drawings preferred
- Experience using grinders, saws, and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
- Ability to lift materials and work in a physically demanding environment
- Willingness to learn welding and fabrication processes
- High school diploma or technical training preferred
Preferred Experience
- Grinding and finishing weldments
- Material preparation and part cleaning
- Fabrication or manufacturing environment experience
- Working with carbon steel and aluminum
- Forklift and/or crane operation
