A local container manufacturing plant is seeking a reliable Machine Assistant for its 3rd shift team. This position plays a key role in supporting production operations by assisting with machine setup, monitoring product quality, performing basic maintenance, and helping ensure production goals are met safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Machine Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist with machine setup, calibration, and operation of manufacturing equipment
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with specifications and company standards
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting using hand tools
- Accurately enter production, downtime, and maintenance data into computer systems
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to resolve issues and maintain production flow
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
- Support production goals while maintaining quality standards
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of stable manufacturing or industrial work experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting
- Consistent and dependable attendance record
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic manufacturing math
- Basic computer skills for production documentation and reporting
- Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, and other physical activities
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment that can be hot and humid during summer and fall months
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Schedule Requirements
- 3rd Shift position
- Must be flexible to work in a 3-shift manufacturing environment when needed
- Ability to work overtime before or after scheduled shifts, up to 12-hour workdays
- Occasional weekend work may be required
