Job Description: Working CDL Driver (Construction Materials Delivery)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Working CDL Driver to join our construction materials delivery team. This role is not a “sit-and-drive” position—drivers are fully involved in the hands-on delivery of drywall, shingles, and other building materials. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, physically capable, and willing to work side-by-side with the crew during loading, unloading, and material placement at job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL-required trucks to transport drywall, shingles, and other building materials to customer locations.
- Work directly with the delivery team to load and unload materials; this includes heavy lifting throughout the workday.
- Use dollies, carts, or other material-handling equipment to move products safely.
- Assist in staging materials at job sites according to customer instructions.
- Verify load accuracy, secure cargo properly, and complete necessary delivery documentation.
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the delivery truck.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers regarding delivery timing and site conditions.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company safety procedures, and job-site safety standards.
Requirements
- Valid CDL (Class A or B) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (often 75+ lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working outdoors and navigating active construction environments.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to perform manual labor alongside the crew.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to safe operations.
- Experience delivering construction materials is preferred, but not required.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced, physically demanding delivery work at warehouses, loading areas, and construction sites.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
