HVAC Technician
Location: Elizabeth, NJ
Pay Rate: $28.00 – $38.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (with occasional on-call or weekend work as needed)
About the Role
Our client, a growing food production company in Elizabeth, NJ, is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to maintain, repair, and optimize heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems across their production and storage facilities.
This is a hands-on position ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who can diagnose issues quickly and ensure a clean, safe, and climate-controlled environment for all operations.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, motors, and controls.

Perform routine preventative maintenance on all climate control systems and facility ventilation units.

Monitor and adjust refrigeration systems to maintain required temperature levels for food safety.

Install and replace components such as filters, belts, motors, fans, and thermostats.

Maintain detailed service logs and communicate effectively with plant and maintenance management.

Ensure all work meets local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards.

Assist with general mechanical or maintenance support when needed.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience (food production experience a plus).

EPA Universal Certification required.

Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, compressors, and electrical troubleshooting.

Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and maintenance manuals.

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or HVAC certification a plus.
