School Bus Driver
Duties and Responsibilities
School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and related events, ensuring their well-being while aboard the bus, and maintaining order and discipline among passengers.
- Conducting daily inspections of the bus to ensure it is safe and well-maintained
- Driving students to and from school in accordance with a set schedule and route
- Following all traffic and corporation regulations to ensure student safety
- Managing student behavior and report any issues to the school administration
- Assisting students with getting on and off the bus, and crossing the street when necessary
- Keeping the bus clean and free of trash
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of bus evacuation procedures
- Administering first aid or emergency assistance when needed
- Communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding any student concerns
- Completing reports regarding bus incidents, delays, or accidents
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL -- WITH S ENDORSEMENT)
- Must be over the age of 21
- Experience driving a bus or other similar vehicle
- Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
- A clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
- Physical health and stamina to work long hours
- Excellent vision and good hearing
- Patient, responsible, and reliable
