Job Full Description
We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Sorter to join our client's recycling and waste management team. The Sorter is responsible for identifying, sorting, and separating recyclable materials from incoming waste streams and ensuring that recoverable items are properly deposited into the correct containers or chutes. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:

Sort and segregate materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.) from incoming waste.

Sort all materials quickly and accurately according to their composition.

Pick items off a fast-moving conveyor belt with attention to speed and precision.

Deposit recovered materials safely into the appropriate chute, bin, or container.

Assist other sorters with handling heavy or bulky items as needed.

Maintain quality control by removing contaminants and ensuring correct material separation.

Follow all safety rules and procedures and report any hazards or equipment issues immediately.

Keep work area clean and organized; perform housekeeping tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements:

Able to stand for 8-hour shifts.

Frequent stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Comfortable working in various weather and environmental conditions (dust, noise, heat, cold, odors).
Required Equipment & PPE:
-
6” lace-up steel-toed boots are REQUIRED – must be worn at all times on site.

EXPRESS provides: safety vest, hard hat, and safety glasses.

Associate must sign a Payroll Deduction Agreement for company.
