What You’ll Do

As a Plant Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop production line employees to consistently achieve daily production targets.
  • Plan and coordinate production schedules, allocating labor and resources to ensure on-time order fulfillment.
  • Enforce compliance with GMP, HACCP, USDA/FDA, and OSHA standards, conducting routine audits, inspections, and safety meetings.
  • Support the Plant Manager in executing production plans, driving process improvements, and implementing cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Oversee equipment operations, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate timely repairs or maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, labor hours, and inventory, and assist with performance reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth, efficient workflows.
  • Supervise warehouse operations, ensuring proper inventory organization, FIFO/LIFO compliance, and optimal space utilization.
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking material usage, conducting physical counts, reconciling discrepancies, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Oversee shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely and accurate inbound and outbound deliveries.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve order discrepancies and maintain adequate levels of raw materials and packaging supplies.
  • Monitor production costs, identify inefficiencies, and drive waste-reduction and yield-improvement efforts.
  • Participate in production meetings, share insights, and recommend operational and process improvements.
  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives, including lean manufacturing projects, cost-reduction programs, and ERP system enhancements.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment while addressing employee concerns and promoting teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required.
  • HACCP certification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably in a USDA FSIS-regulated meat facility.
  • Previous experience in import/export is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, USDA/FDA regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with production scheduling, workflow optimization, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel); experience with ERP or production management software is an asset.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment (0 °C to 4 °C) for extended periods.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement, process optimization, and team development.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, 5S, health & safety practices, and cost-control strategies.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage changing priorities effectively.

 

Work Environment

  • Production floor in a refrigerated food manufacturing facility.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on production needs.
