Job Full Description

 The Collateral Protection Insurance & Member Solutions Clerk performs a variety of clerical duties and administrative tasks related to the credit union’s collateral protection insurance (CPI) program, mortgage insurance tracking, collections, and monthly charge-off processing. This position provides essential clerical support to the Member Solutions Counselors to assist in loan collection efforts while supporting the Credit Union’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Additionally, this role provides support in the liquidation of credit union-owned assets. This is a full time position, with the salary range of $22.89-$28.61!


Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Collateral Protection Insurance Management (35%)

    • Maintain the credit union’s CPI program, including insurance notices and communications.

    • Communicate with members and insurance agents to obtain proof of insurance and promote member loyalty.

    • Investigate and resolve insurance cancellation issues while prioritizing the best interests of both the member and the credit union.

    • Monitor CPI ratios to ensure alignment with annual budget goals.

  • Payment Processing & Loan Management (35%)

    • Post payments to loans, Visa accounts, and share accounts.

    • Process bankruptcy payments, charged-off loan payments, and loan payoffs.

    • Manage Consumer Credit Counseling accounts and disbursements.

  • Member Communication (10%)

    • Answer incoming calls and respond to correspondence.

    • Provide general account information and resolve member account problems while maintaining positive member relations.

    • Direct specific inquiries to appropriate Member Solutions Counselors.

  • Departmental Support (5%)

    • Assist with filing, mailing correspondence, posting payments, data entry, and loan changes.

    • Support Counselors with administrative tasks and maintain department reports.

  • Loan Charge-Off Administration (5%)

    • Administer the process for monthly loan charge-offs as approved.

  • Delinquency Management (5%)

    • Distribute delinquent and late notices and process transfers as appropriate.

  • Other Duties (5%)

    • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of department operations.


Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience:
    One (1) to three (3) years of similar or related experience. Experience in collateral protection insurance preferred.

  • Education:
    High school diploma or GED required.

  • Interpersonal Skills:
    Requires extensive personal contact with members and external partners. Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and the ability to motivate or influence others. Building and maintaining strong relationships with outside entities is key.

  • Other Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and general computer applications.

    • Strong data entry and multitasking skills.

    • Experience operating multi-line phone systems and general office equipment.

    • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities.

    • Knowledge of credit union services and departments.

    • Professional demeanor and appearance.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move or adjust objects up to 30 pounds.

  • Ability to remain stationary (standing or sitting) for prolonged periods.

  • Repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers while using a computer.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and perceive normal speaking levels.

  • Ability to receive detailed oral information and distinguish sound nuances.

  • Continuous close visual acuity required for computer and document work.
