Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Food Prep Associate to support food production at a local food manufacturing facility. This position plays a key role in preparing ingredients and in-process materials (WIPs) for use in high-quality food products. Key Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from Prep Leads, Shift Leads, or Kitchen Supervisors.
- Prepare ingredients according to batch sheets and standard procedures (e.g., slicing onions, prepping carrots/spinach, opening canned goods, measuring cheeses).
- Operate prep equipment safely and according to SOPs.
- Accurately label and store all containers with the correct product name, production date, and weight.
- Ensure all food safety and quality standards are followed during ingredient prep.
- Use tilt kettles and other prep tools safely.
- Report any product quality concerns immediately to leadership.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support kitchen production schedules.
- Must be available for overtime during peak production periods.
Qualifications:
- Less than high school education acceptable; 6+ months of related experience preferred.
- Basic math and reading skills required.
- Must be able to recognize ingredient quality based on texture, smell, taste, and color.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions accurately.
- Ability to handle repetitive tasks and stay productive on your feet for most of the shift.
- Must be certified (or willing to be trained) in proper batch sheet usage.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift/push/pull 50–65 lbs frequently; team lifting required for over 100 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stretching, and bending.
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, or crawling in a wet or cold environment.
- Work may include exposure to extreme cold and moderate noise levels.
Work Environment:
- Wet, humid, and cold production areas are common.
- Constant movement and manual handling in a high-paced kitchen/manufacturing setting.
